Hi, would love if anyone could give me some information on the best sights to see in Kyushu and Shikoku. Also, we are looking at traveling to Hiroshima for a day trip (possibly overnight), so are there any other places in Hiroshima that you'd suggest seeing besides the Peace Dome and Museum? We are traveling from Busan in Korea via ferry for about 5 or 6 days, so it is only a short trip but we'd love any advice on the best places to go. Thanks!

Hi Amy,

I am a little confused as to where exactly you are arriving into Japan.

There are a couple of key suggestions for Hiroshima:
Skukkeien Garden a wonderful gardern in central Hiroshima.
Miyajima Island with its famous Tsukishima shrine. This is a must see.

I have also added a new Hiroshima Map to help you locate places.

Thanks for your fast reply Craig.
The places you mentioned look great.
We will be arriving into Fukuoka. So any suggestions for stuff to see around there would be great. Thanks again.

You have enough time to got to Kyoto for at least a day and it is probably one of the best places in Japan to visit. There are one day tours (
Kyoto Day Tour - Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle, Sanjusangendo, Kiyomizu Temple) that cover all of the following:

Kinkakuji - Golden Pavilion
Nijo Castle
Kyoto Imperial Palace (Kyoto Gosho)
Heian Jingu Shine
Kiyomizu-dera Temple

I will try to chase up some more information on Fukuoka for you tomorrow.

Ok, I have added a new Fukuoka map to the site.

Most of the things to do in Fukuoka city are sight seeing, eating and shopping. There really are many old style Japanese sights to see. I will try to get together more information on these. They are all listed on the map.

There are some things out of Fukuoka, but nothing like as much as in Kyoto. I am not exaggerating to say that there is 10 time more to see in Kyoto than there is to see in Fukuoka. I think you would be better off spending two days in Kyoto area, than spending the time in Fukuoka.
