Bonsai Bronte Beach Offering a real alternative for Bronte, Bonsai has a stunning fit out and modern Japanese menu. The intimate dining room is clean and crisp. Dark wood furniture is squared up against a deep red wall, while a large communal table dominates the centre of the room. Lighting is provided by a striking sculptural piece, made from bamboo.
The menu offers some familiar fare, with a range of sushi, several types of miso, gyoza and teppanyaki. Highlights come with the fusionist dishes, with chef Daud Kendall clearly drawing on his diverse experience and influences ? gmille feuilles of swordfish, mashed potato and lotus root with red wine jush a signature dish. To match the food is a small but shapely wine list of French and Australian wines, hot and cold sake and appropriately themed cocktails.
