Matsuya Japanese Restaurant Fairfield There seem to be very few authentic Japanese restaurants in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Unfortunately Matsuya is not one to change this.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant, the staff courteous and prices were reasonable, but the meals were a disappointment, at least in terms of their authenticity. The tempura was too heavy as a result of excessive oil. The Udon noodles were good, but seemed to be lacking a few of more expensive vegetables you would normally expect.
If you were hoping to order your meal in Japanese, you will have to try somewhere else. None of waitresses were Japanese or seemed to be able to speak Japanese.
