NISHI-SHINJUKU

Nishi-Shinjuku is the main skyscraper district of Tokyo. Nishi-Shinjuku is located in the central part of Tokyo within the ward of Shinjuku.

Nishi-Shinjuku (西新宿) is the skyscraper business district of Tokyo and was Tokyo's first major foray into building skyscrapers. Nishi-shinjuku is part of Shinjuku. The first skyscrapper appeared in the 1970s with Keio Plaza Inter-Continental. Kenzo Tange's Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building being one of the more recent additions. Tower I was also the tallest building in Japan at the time it was built.

Progress continues in Nishi-shinjuku and in West Shinjuku which is heading away from the city center and has the site of the coming Nishi-shinjuku 3-Chome redevelopment with plans for what will be 3 of the 4 tallest buildings in Japan.

Tokyo Opera City Building
Tokyo Opera City building opened in 1996. It holds the New National Theatre, Tokyo Opera City Tower, NTT Inter Communication Center (ICC), plus some additional shops. The New National Theatre consists of three performance spaces. The Opera City has three concert halls. The NTT Inter Communication Center (ICC) is a museum run by Japan's largest telecom firm.
