TOKYO MAP - MOBILE

Tokyo Map for mobile phone, Tokyo Map for Pocket PC

Tokyo Map for Pocket PC

Currently the best option for Tokyo maps for the Pocket PC are via the Microsoft Live! system. You need to download a small application onto your Pocket PC and then the mapping program will work. See Microsoft Maps for Pocket PC. The maps however are in Japanese.

GPS Enabled - If you Pocket PC has a GPS then you can use it and the Microsoft Live! Maps to find your location. This all seemed to work fine on HP iPAQ 6515 which has a built in GPS. The real issue will be concurrent access to the internet.

Google maps is now supported on the Pocket PC. Load up this data in Google Earth.

Tokyo Map for Palm

One option for the Palm devices is http://www.multimap.com/static/wireless.htm who offer an English language version of their maps.

Tokyo Map for mobile phone

The Microsoft Maps for Mobile only supports a limited range of mobile phones. None of the Blackberry were supported. I did however find that my Siemens SK65 did work to some extent on the Samsung version of the software. Of course this model does not work in Japan itself. See Microsoft Maps for mobile phone.

While Google Maps supports a large range of mobile phones, as of January 2007 Google did not have any map data for Tokyo.
