Hiroshima Peace Memorial ParkHiroshima Peace Memorial Park is a memorial park, which is dedicated to the legacy of Hiroshima as the world's first city to suffer a nuclear attack. The location of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park used to be the city's busiest commercial and residential district. Hiroshima Prefectural Art MuseumOpened in 1996, Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum exhibits paintings and sculptures by the artists born in Hiroshima including Hirayama Ikuo. Hiroshima Museum of ArtLocated right next to the Hiroshima Castle, Hiroshima Museum of Art was established in 1978 by Hiroshima Bank in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of its foundation. It exhibits about 90 works of Modern European paintings and 90 works of Modern Japanese paintings plus special exhibitions from time to time. Shukkeien GardenShukkeien while not one of Japan's Top 3, it is a compact and beautifully landscaped Japanese garden which is well worth visiting. Hiroshima CastleHiroshima Castle was built in 1589 by the daimyo Mori Terumoto. It was originally completed in 1591 and became his home base. Hiroshima Castle has an elegant design. Mazda MuseumMazda has it's company headquarters a short distance outside of Hiroshima. They offer free tours. MiyajimaMiyajima Island and its famous World Heritage Listed Itsukushima Shrine are located just outside Hiroshima city. You should allow at least a half or full day to visit this sacred island.
