MIYAJIMA ROPEWAY

Miyajima Ropeway is the cable car and gondola system linking Miyajima to Mount Misen. The Miyajima Ropeway is a two stage system.

Miyajima Ropeway is located on Miyajima (officially known as Itsukushima Island) which located near Hiroshima city. The Miyajima Ropeway runs from Momijidani Park to Mount Misen, which on a clear day, provides an excellent observation point, plus access to the Wild Monkey Park, temples and shrines. There is a free bus that picks up Miyajima Ropeway passengers at the entrance to Momijidani Park and drops them close to the Momijidani Station. The bus runs at approximately 20 minute intervals.

The Miyajima Ropeway is a two stage system; the first stage is the Momijidani Line which goes from Momijidani Station to Kayatani Station. This is circulating ropeway type which carries up to 22 gondolas each holding up to 8 passengers (as seen above). The Momijidani Line ride take 10 minutes.

The second leg of the Miyajima Ropeway is the Shishiiwa Line from Kayatani Station to Shishiiwa Station. The Shishiiwa Line uses a larger alternating Gondola with up to 30 person capacity. It uses the funicular type of ropeway.
