Statue of Liberty Amerikamura Osaka
Amerikamura is identifiable by a small-scale reproduction
of the Statue of Liberty that peers down on the streets. Amerikamura centres on Triangle Park, a concrete rest area
surrounded by retail outlets which historically had Western style fashion.
In the post World War II period much of latest fashion in
Japan came from America (USA),
which lead to the area being referred to as Amerikamura. In the past there
were bars and nightclubs, some
of which are run by Westerners or had a Western bias with many Western
patrons.
Today most of the Amerikamura theme bars and retail outlets have gone or
converted to selling the same Japanese
fashion as the stores in Namba.
