OSAKA AQUARIUM
Osaka Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the
world. Osaka Aquarium features the display of two whale sharks.
Osaka Aquarium (Kaiyukan) is one of the largest
aquariums in the world. Osaka Aquarium obtains its Japanese name
from the Japanese word Kaiyukan literally means ‘Playing in the Sea
Pavilion’. In this aquarium, visitors can enjoy creatures as if they
are playing together in the sea. Osaka Aquarium is
located in Tempozan in the
Osaka Bay Area.

Osaka Aquarium
Osaka Aquarium consists of 15 water tanks centered on a
single huge tank holding 11,000 tons of water (the world's top-class
by volume). Osaka Aquarium is home to 580 species and 30,000 marine
animals from the Pacific Rim—everything from strangely delightful
jellyfish, to playfully chortling sea otters, to dolphins, penguins.
Among them, giant whale shark, the largest fish on earth, named
‘Kai-kun’ is the most popular creature of all.
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is located five minutes' walk from Osakako
Station on the Osaka Municipal Subway Chūō Line. The
Tempozan Ferris wheel is located next to the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan.
